Neuspeed Exhaust
Neuspeed Exhaust Tips

Rating: Thumbs-Up! Thumbs-Up! Thumbs-Up! Thumbs-Up! Thumbs-Up! Great product but a tad pricey.

Car: 1997 GTI VR6

Cost: $699.95 from Neuspeed.

The Good

  • Incredible looks. I love the chrome rear muffler and I especially like how "NEUSPEED" is etched into the chrome on the tips!
  • Great sound. I get a lot of compliments on the way my car sounds. I only have a modified OEM air box and this exhaust and my car makes that sexy VR6 growl :)
  • It's stainless steel. Hopefully the fact that it is stainless steel means I won't have to replace it for a million years or so.

The Bad

  • Expensive! I got mine used for $400, so I can't complain for that price. However, for $700, I'd seriously evaluate other options.
  • Fitment was poor. I'm not sure if this is VW's fault or Neuspeeds. This exhaust fit perfectly on my friend's car that I bought the system from. When I tried to put it on my car, it didn't fit at all! I had to go to a local muffler shop and have the exhaust custom bent to fit, but now it's okay.

Impressions:

Once I got the exhaust to fit, my initial thought was that it looks good, but didn't do anything performance wise. Mind you, I still had the OEM air box at the time. I eventually bought a K&B drop-in panel and opened up the bottom of my OEM air box and then I noticed a little performance boost! It wasn't a night-and-day difference, but I could actually feel it, unlike many other "performance" mods I've done! The exhaust is a bit too pricey to me, but I don't think you'll be disappointed if you bought one.
