Turn2 Motor Mount

Car: 1994 Jetta GL

Cost: $60.00 from Virtual World Parts

Impressions:

I read a VW Tech Procedure in the January 1999 issue of European Car on the Turn 2 motor mount, and the mount had received good reviews for "modified" VW's.  I ordered one for my car and installed it.  The instructions are very straight forward, except that they are lacking one thing -- torque specs for the bolt (for the 4-cyl it is 40 ft-lbs and the VR6 it is 25 ft-lbs).  The installation took about 10 whole minutes and the car was ready to go.  At idle I did not detect any new vibrations, but when you set the parking brake and let the clutch out, the engine doesn't move around in the engine bay like it used to (had a friend behind the controls while I watched the movement of the engine).  On the road, I noticed that the car is a lot more responsive.  I dropped the clutch, there was no wheel hop, just a lot of smoke coming out of the wheel wells.  The only time I noticed any vibrations was during hard acceleration - the rear view mirror vibrated a little.  The Turn 2 motor mount is a good product - not to mention less costly then some of the other mounts I've seen.
