"What's better, a supercharger or a turbo?" "Will NOS hurt my engine?" "Where can I get a turbo for my car?" Read through the articles listed and if you're ready to buy, check out the list of Tuners at the bottom of the page.

Forced Induction 101

Few of us were born with the knowledge of how a turbo or supercharger system works, so now is your chance to educate yourself. If you already have an extensive knowledge base relating to forced induction, please share!

Where to Get Forced Induction for Your VW

Although you can build a supercharger or turbo kit on your own, many companies have done the "dirty work" for you... all you have to do is buy their kit and bolt it on!

The "Homegrown" VR6 Vortech SC Project

  • "Homegrown" Vortech SC (for A3 VR6 models)
Knowledge is power! Help contribute to our project and make it easy for fellow VW owners to buy and build their own Vortech SC kit!

Turbo Systems

  • ATP Manufacturing
Don't let the URL fool you (http://8vturbo.com), ATP Manufacturing makes turbo systems for most VW applications.
  • AudSpeed
AudSpeed is a relatively new VW turbo kit manufacturer that creates relatively inexpensive "grossroots" turbo kits. The reliability of these kits has yet to be proven as not many people have them.
  • EIP Tuning
EIP was one of the first on the block with a turbo system for the VR6, and they have since expanded to making turbo systems for the G60, 8v, and 16v engines.
  • HPA Motorsports
This Canadian tuner knows there stuff... just check-out their twin-turbo VR6 kit! Unfortunately, their prices are relatively high.
  • Matrix Motorsports
Matrix is new to the mass-produced turbo scene (but not new to tuning) and offers some nice VR6 turbo systems. Note: The turbo systems are not available until the cast exhaust manifolds are finished.

Supercharger Systems

  • Advanced Motorsport Solutions
AMS was the first to market with a supercharger for the VR6 utilizing a Vortech blower. However, dyno results show this kit runs lean out-of-the-box. A new chip and 310cc injectors will solve this problem and increase the horsepower output. AMS also has products for the 1.8t engine.
  • Bahn Brenner
Bahn Brenner is you G60 specialist featuring Lysholm style blower replacements, as well as 1.8t turbo upgrades.
  • C2 Motorsports
Expect a Vortech supercharger kit from these guys early in 2004.
  • EuroTech Racing
Based off of the AMS kit, the EuroTech supercharger kit for the VR6 supplies slightly more power than the AMS kit at a better price. Note: EuroTech Racing is no more. Look for it to resurface under the new name "Underground VW Parts." Along with the new name will come new management and new products!
  • VF-Engineering
Nik Saran and VF-Engineering produce Vortech supercharger kits for many VW models, and not only are the kits top-notch, they are also backed by a warranty and top-notch customer service!
